In ancient times the Huizhou region was an area encompassing Huangshan city, Jixi County of Anhui Province, and Wuyuan County in northeastern Jiangxi Province.
It had a major influence on Chinese culture, cuisine, architecture, and history.
On this trip, we will start out in Huangshan City and then hike along nearby Xihong Ancient Trail, a 5-mile long path connecting Xidi and Hongcun ancient villages, UNESCO Heritage Sites. Then, we will explore the ancient Nanping village, a quieter town with many well preserved Ming and Qing dynasty era houses. Famous films such as Judou, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Great Transition were filmed here.
On the last day, we will head over to Mt Qiyun, one of the Four Sacred Mountains of Taoism. There, you will find rock inscriptions along the way and the Danxia formations at the summit.
