Dates:  

July 6-9  (Thursday to Sunday)

 

Day 1 – Thursday, July 6

17: 15 - Board our flight from Shanghai to Hohhot (people from other cities can meet us in Hohhot directly)

20: 30 - Airport pickup and transfer to our hotel

 

Day 2 – Friday, July 7

08:00 - Local Breakfast

09:00 - Hop on the bus and head to the desert

12:30 - Local specialty lunch

13:00 - Ride the longest desert cable car in Asia, which drops us off in the desert

13:30 - Start our desert adventure - we will be planting trees to help combat deforestation

17:00 - Hop on a camel and ride into the desert, while watching the beautiful sunset

17:30 - Set up camp in the desert

18:00 - BBQ dinner in our camp ground

18:30 - Bonfire party in the desert & create and light our own chinese flying lanterns!

 

Day 3 – Saturday, July 8

05:00 - Check out the sunrise

07:00 - Local Breakfast

08:00 - Hop on the bus and head to the grasslands where we will meet a local farmer

10:00 - Stop for hot showers along the way

12:00 - Traditional Mongolian welcome with local drinks and Mongolian folk songs

10:00 - Stop for showers on the way to the yurts

12:00 - Mongolian lunch with a local family(mutton, milk tea, Mongolian cheese, salad etc.) and take a hike through the grasslands

13:30 - Go local - Check into our very traditional mongolian yurts - we are taking you away from the typical tourist accommodation with this one and sleeping mongolian style.

14:00 - Watch traditional competitive games, including a horse race and Mongolian wrestling (you can even try out your wrestling skills with the locals), learn how to make mongolian dumplings, shear some sheep (can only be done this time of year) and other activities

18:00 - Local special dinner

19:00 - Bonfire party in the grasslands complete with horsehead fiddle performance

 

Day 4 – Sunday, July 9

05:00 - Sunrise in the grasslands

07:00 - Local Breakfast

08:00 - Hop on the bus and head to Hohhot

09:30 - Check out the ancient Tibetan Lama Temple

12:00 - Local specialty lunch

13:00 - Wander through an awesome ancient street

14:30 - Head back to the airport

17:05 - Catch our flight back

21:05 - Arrive in Shanghai

Accommodation:

Included -  1 night in a clean, double occupancy hotel room, 1 night in a traditional Mongolian yurt (small group), and 1 night camping permit in the desert. These will be booked on a first come first served basis.  If you wish to room alone, the single occupancy fee is an extra 700 RMB per person total. Please note that single occupancy availability may be limited. (If needed, we can help you find someone to share. Pairings in this case are distributed in order of request submission. If there is an uneven number of travelers, the extra single occupancy fee may apply.)

 

Not included - Bring your own tent/sleeping bag, or rent them:  1 night double occupancy tent 100 RMB per person. Sleeping bags are also available to rent for 60 RMB per person. To be paid onsite.

 

Meals:

Included - All meals as listed- and local specialty breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a delicious BBQ in the desert… Veggie friendly!
