10:30 to 12:30 – sea kayak south around the coastline to Tung O beach for lunch
The first part of the journey takes us into the East Lamma Channel, passing Mo Tat, the largest village on south Lamma Island. This beach village is easily accessible by from Aberdeen Harbour (just 15 minutes away) and so is very popular with expats living in Hong Kong as a place to live, or come to swim and relax on the weekends.
Once we round the southern point, the coastline dramatically changes from rolling, jungle-clad hills to stark exposed sea cliffs plunging into the deep waters of the South China Sea.
If the weather and sea conditions are kind, we can paddle through Lamma Island’s own sea cave.
12:30 to 13:30 – lunch and swim – relax and recoup
Our lunch spot is on the remote and deserted crescent beach of Yung Shue Ha facing the South China Sea. here we eat, relax, rest, have a swim
13:30 to 15:30 – Sea kayak or hike to the Green Sea Turtle nesting beach and return
paddling or hiking to the Green Sea Turtle Marine Sanctuary, the only beach in Hong Kong that the endangered Green Sea Turtle use as a nesting ground.
We leave our sea kayaks at Yung Shue Ha and make the short hike (approx 1 hour depending on photo and rest stops) back to Sok Kwu Wan. Depending on the weather and sea conditions, we will either paddle to the turtle nesting sanctuary or include it on our hike back to Sok Kwu Wan.
15:30 to 16:30 – Hike from Tung O to Sok Kwu Wan
16:30 - Arrive back in Sok Kwu Wan and grab the ferry back
The return journey will be at your leisure after 16:30. Sok Kwu Wan is a great place to eat, with a range of famous waterfront seafood restaurants and bars. The last ferry leaves at 22:30, so you have plenty of time to enjoy a good meal, or hike to Yung Shue Wan to see the rest of the island and depart from there.

More about Kayaking Etiquette:
You are a guest – bring a quiet voice and leave behind your radios and portable speakers– your fellow participants will appreciate it and you will be rewarded by seeing more of the natural environment and its tranquility. Tread lightly, paddle slowly and enjoy nature. This is particularly relevant in the habitats of the endangered Chinese White dolphin. Persistent disturbance of their habitat has interfered with breeding, feeding and care of their young. Please join with us and carry out all your litter and any other trash. Don't remove rocks, logs, driftwood, wildflowers or plants – Take only photos, leave only footprints.
